Specialists add acquisition value
How can Dell differentiate its acquisition of SecureWorks? Look at Vistorm’s position within HP, which was all about HP with little value added from Vistorm. Staff and client retention is an issue as usual, and Dell will need to show that it has a clear integration strategy. Security still requires specialist expertise and knowledge – bundling it into a hardware sell might work for the man on the street, but will it work for the corporate with risks and compliance issues that require both agility and flexibility? Deploying, configuring and managing remain the real issue at stake.
