Integralis teams get peddling for Japan tsunami appeal

Integralis teams get on their bikes for charity

IT security solutions provider Integralis has set itself the target of raising a total of £5,000 for the Japan Tsunami Appeal. Its latest fundraiser took place this Sunday June 12, when three Integralis teams, including global COO Simon Church and operations director Graham Aynsley, took part in the ‘UCI Magnificat Wiggle Sportive Newbury’ cycling 51 miles through Berkshire, Wiltshire and over the rolling Wolds of Hampshire.

The earthquake and devastating tsunami which hit Japan on March 11 this year killed 28,000 people, left tens of thousands homeless, damaged 76,000 buildings and destroyed 6,300 including homes, schools, hospitals and businesses.

More than 1,500 cyclists took part in the annual event setting out from Newbury Racecourse. The fourteen Integralis riders divided into three teams (The Old Cranks, The Integralis Psyclo-paths and Team Rizumu) included seasoned cyclists who can regularly be seen commuting to the company’s offices in Theale.

“There was a great atmosphere and more than a little competitiveness between our three teams! We are on track to meet our fundraising target and huge thanks go to all our riders who have put in a magnificent effort,” says HR officer Emma Rowe.

Commenting on the company’s support for the Japan Tsunami appeal, Simon Church says: “Anyone seeing the television images of the earthquake and tsunami could not help but be affected. We wanted to see what we could do in our own small way to help. Oxfam and Red Cross are using donations to provide much needed relief and practical support and I am very pleased that we will be contributing to their excellent work in Japan.”

“This latest event is just one in a busy fundraising calendar at Integralis,” adds Rowe. “So far this year we have held a very successful sponsored five-a-side football tournament that contributed £4,000 towards our target for the Japan Tsunami Appeal. Helping our local and wider communities creates a great team spirit at Integralis and makes it a fantastic place to work!”
